Eden Plan Hawaii
combatting homelessness and Empowering Stable Futures
We are an interfaith 501c3 committed to building in rapidly deploy-able housing that combats homelessness on Big Island. We specialize in building on our 38 acres of property with goals to replicate the model on another property. We focus on "hand ups", empowering people with healthy meals grown on site, job skill development, and access to community resources. We center those who have been priced out of the market, domestic violence survivors, and former foster transitioning into independence.
Services
We have comprehensive programming for those we serve.

Housing
We build rapidly deployable tiny houses that combat homelessness in the Puna Region of Big Island, Hawaii. Each house maintains a low cost in construction ($10,000 each). Long term, we want to replicate our model on other properties, partner with state based land holdings, and mirror projects like Community First! in Austin that have successfully housed 500 people with a similar community approach. Where they focus on neighborhoods driving solution, we focus on skill development.

Food Security & Health
Food security is more than calories. It is about nutrition and drives health KPI. We provide residents with fresh, nutritious meals grown on-site and integrate hands-on agricultural training as part of their daily experience. Our goal is to help residents develop practical skills and improve health outcomes in a supportive, empowering environment, ensuring the experience is positive, educational, and empowering.

Skill Development
What is unique about Eden, is our "hand up" culture. Residents have the opportunity to learn construction, solar, agriculture, house management, and culinary skills during their time here. We value skill learning that can truly 180 someone's trajectory. We love to see people gain confidence, skill, and momentum. We are expanding to have an art center in our second community kitchen, so we can host more entrepreneurial events.

Community partnerships
We are partnered with several organizations across Big Island, including Hope Services, One Ohana, Salvation Army, and Hydroponic Hut. These partnerships ensure our long term viability, offering wrap around services, workshops, and referrals.

Conservation
We uphold State priorities to re-connect people with the care of land (Malama aina). We have bees on site, use and train regenerative agriculture (over mono-cropping), practice organic farming using horse manure compost, and use 100% solar energy. We stack time, layering conservation values with pragmatic skill.

Therapeutic frame
Our staff have the opportunity to advance their training during their time here. Residents are matched with a case manager, who provides wrap around support. They have the opportunity to live and work with the animals. Research points to this as a top practice for trauma informed nervous system care.
testimonials from our community
Video Testimonial by Dani, former resident
Before Eden Plan, Hanale was homeless and living in a tent. Eden helped him stabilize his life, improve his health, and start working towards his goals. He gained access to food, healthcare, identification, and support he didn’t have before. Eden gave him a real foundation to build from.
Story of Hanale, Former Resident
Eden Plan gave Daniel stability when he had none. With our support, Daniel was able to get his ID, health insurance, medical care, and basic life tools he’d never had access to. We were able to help him move forward with confidence and direction.
